In Bedford County, education extends beyond the classroom – it’s a community effort to nurture talent and build futures. The Bedford County Chamber Foundation plays a key role, bringing every student from pre-K through high school face-to-face with real-world employers – through career exploration days, factory tours, job shadows, and civic events. These experiences plant early seeds: Bedford County isn’t just a starting point – it’s a place with strong jobs, excellent schools, and space to build a lasting life.

Our five public school districts educate nearly 6,000 students annually, uniting parents and educators in the shared goal of raising well-rounded, productive community members.

The Bedford County Technical Center is essential for workforce readiness, primarily serving the Bedford Area and Everett districts. The remaining districts – Tussey Mountain, Northern Bedford, and Chestnut Ridge – send students on a tuition basis. This center prepares the next generation with hands-on skills for local careers.

Thanks to the generosity of local businesses including Everett Cash Mutual Insurance Group – now in its sixth year of $500,000 annual Educational Improvement Tax Credit donations – high school students can pursue early college courses at Allegany College of Maryland’s Bedford County campus at no cost.

Located on the Everett Area School District campus, this 20,000-square-foot facility includes modern classrooms, state-of-the-art computer labs, an online learning room, digital library, student lounge, conference room, and offices. Students earn transferable credits toward a range of degree, certificate, and recognition programs, starting locally before continuing at the main campus in Cumberland, Maryland, or other institutions.

Both the Bedford County Technical Center and Allegany College of Maryland offer accessible options for those learning trades or earning degrees – and both welcome adults continuing their education.
